Alan & Margaret B-793

The Atlantic 75 is a rigid inflatable lifeboat, introduced into the fleet in 1993. The '75' is derived from the length of the boat. In the event of a capsize, a crew member activates
a gas bottle to inflate the righting bag. The lifeboat turns upright in seconds. The twin 60HP engines are inversion proof so they can be restarted after a capsize. The Atlantic can be launched in conditions up to near gale force 7.

Ollie Naismith

A D class inshore lifeboat has served Looe since 1992. The new lifeboat is of the very latest design and will be faster, fitted out with high-tech navigation equipment and an updated first aid kit. The appeal has raised enough money to provide the lifeboat, tractor, trailer and maintenance for the boat’s lifetime.

The D class lifeboat has been the workhorse of the RNLI for 40 years. It’s small and highly manoeuvrable, making it ideal for rescues close to shore in fair to moderate conditions. It has a single outboard engine and can be righted manually by the three crew following a capsize.
